     The 5th house is the field of self-expression. This area shows effort put forth to distinguish myself from others. It deals with my romantic affairs, procreation, my offspring, and with artistic endeavors, hobbies, books written, and other personal achievements. The 5th house also relates to those things in life that I enjoy doing; how I am entertained. Finally, my relationships with my children are influenced by this house.

  Virgo is naturally associated with the Feminine, is a Mutable Earth sign, and its ruler is the Messenger Mercury. 

     The influence of Virgo in the 5th house shows a critical nature in romantic situations.  I enjoy affections, but find it hard to commit myself completely.

  More than anything, I need mental companionship; someone to discuss the pros and cons of a variety of subjects. I exercise the utmost discrimination in selecting the object of my affections, and I become impatient with the ritual of courtship if it betrays.

  Relationships with offspring can be strained at times as I lack the patience for properly disciplining them and understanding their needs, but once again, luck and age have wisened me up.

  Virgo can be creative, but it's necessary to spend much time in preparation and planning before starting.  Even when I am just going out to have a good time, I make sure that all the details of the evening are well planned and carefully thought through.  Spontaneity has not been my way but, like a muscle, getting better every day.
