 The 3rd house, a Cadent house, is the house of Communication and is naturally associated with the Masculine Gemini, a Mutable Air sign, and its ruler is the Messenger Mercury which also rules Virgo, a Feminine, Mutable Earth sign, and is placed in my 4th and 5th house.   

  The 3rd house of the chart concerns my thought processes and how I relate to others in my formative years; the early environment and early relationships. It deals with subjects such as writing, news, communication, speech, and learning to deal with the world. Accordingly, it is associated with early education.

Cancer in the 3rd House explained...

  As with my 2nd house, Cancer is naturally associated with the Feminine, is a Cardinal Water sign, and its ruler is the Motherly Moon.  My Moon is placed in the 9th house and in the sign of Aquarius, a Fixed Air sign, where Uranus and Saturn co-rule.

     With Cancer on the cusp of the 3rd house there is a very sensitive manner of communication. I have an ability to tune in to people's needs and public trends.

  An excellent memory permits me to retain the information I receive although age and luck has diminished this ability. I learn as if by osmosis. When I am interested in a subject, I can remember exact words, gestures, and even the tone of voice of the delivery. I experienced difficulties in my early childhood education because I was emotional and moody then.

  Even now my ability to discuss matters rationally is often challenged and I may react to others emotionally. During my early years I was close and very protective of my brother and sister although they may not have been aware.

  The influence of Cancer in the 3rd house denotes close and emotional ties to the immediate family. I pay solicitous attention to those with whom I feel a close relationship which luck and age have served me well in enhancing my relations with once distant members.
